THE AIM OF IOF
is to PROTECT THE INTERNATIONAL EXTRA VIRGIN STANDARD FOR OLIVE OIL.
In 2016, the law bringing us the “EXTRA VIRGIN” standard celebrates its 50th birthday (regulation No 136/66/EEC of the Council of 22 September 1966). Unfortunately, as we all know, many of the olive oils that consumers buy today are far away from that – although they are labelled as “EXTRA VIRGIN”.
IOF has been founded to protect the quality standard “Extra Virgin” (EU; Codes Alimentarius; Switzerland) as well as the consumers of olive oil. All over the world.
OUR VISION
IOF – International Olive Foundation protects olive oil consumers. People all over the world will be safe when buying and consuming an IOF sealed real extra virgin olive oil. The IOF Quality Guarantee Seal indicates that these specific olive oils are of real extra virgin quality. Supermarket chains all around the world are focusing on this quality assurance measures. People understand that a real extra virgin olive oil is not only a source of nourishment but also of health and pleasure. They are increasingly aware that an IOF sealed real extra virgin olive oil will positively impact their quality of life. Behind every one of IOF sealed bottles there are strict quality controls dedicated to earn consumers’ trust.
The board of IOF – International Olive Foundation consists of worldwide recognised experts such as official olive oil tasters, olive oil panel leaders, olive oil chemists and olive oil quality consultants as well as of international lawyers, mediators and interpreters.
